B.R. Srinivasan, V.V. Kamat, Rekha Gaonkar, Vikas Pissurlekar and M. Aradhana have been awarded the best teacher award for the academic year 2018-19. R.S. Gad, Savita Kerkar, Vidya Desai, Radhika Nayak and Rajan Mathew won the award for the academic year 2019-20.
The award will consist of a memento, certificate and Rs. 1 lakh each. This award will be presented to the awardees in a ceremony to be held soon.
“These awards are being given with the intention of acknowledging the efforts of the teachers who have immensely contributed in the field of education. It also aims at encouraging the teachers to contribute further in their future in the field of higher education,” said director of higher education Prasad Lolienkar.
A jury panel headed by Goa University vice-chancellor Varun Sahani was set up to decide the awards. It also had Mohan Sagodkar, Jayant Budkuley, Ajit Parulekar as members, while Lolienkar was the member secretary of the panel.
The awardee B.R. Srinivasan is a professor at department of chemistry at Goa University. He has been awarded the Bronze medal by Chemical Research Society of India for his contributions to the field.
V.V. Kamat is a professor at Computer Science and Technology Department at Goa University and has worked on various projects dealing with creation of web tools.
Rekha Gaonkar is currently the associate professor and vice-principal at M.E.S. College of Arts and Commerce, Zuarinagar, Goa.
Vikas Pissurlekar is principal at Ponda Education Society’s Ravi Sitaram Naik Collegeof Arts and Science, Farmagudi. He has also been active in formulating syllabi for Chemistry courses in Goa.
Dr. Maria Aradhana is the Principal of Carmel College since June 2009. She has been into teaching for last 25 years and has actively contributed in inculcating good values amongst her students.
The awardee for 2019-20 RS Gad has been serving as Associate Professor at the Department of Electronics, Goa University.
Prof. Savita Kerkar has also been working in the Department of Biotechnology at Goa University for past 27 years.
Dr. Vidya Desai is an Associate Professor of Chemistry at Dyanprasarak Mandal’s College and Research Centre, Assagao. She has also been Ph.D. guide for many students.
Dr. Radhika Nayak has been serving as the Principal of DCT’s Dhempo College for last ten years. Known for her dynamic personality, she has also been part of various councils and committees related to education policies.
Dr. Rajan Matthew has been working as the Director of Physical Education at Government College, Quepem. Under his guidance, the college has received several awards and accolades in the sports field at state as well as national level.
