Marquee international recruiters who are from the software development domain have made the offers for United States location. Sources said that some of the offers are likely from Microsoft Redmond among others. The salary surpasses the magical Rs 1 crore figure when the dollar is converted to Indian currency. Also, the salary offer includes the share of stocks as part of the compensation which a student is not allowed to sale before the lapse of a certain number of years in the company.
The slot 0 – day 1 saw tech-giant Sony Japan visiting the campus while the second biggie was the online payment system company – PayPal. Both the organizations will began recruiting for their software development and consulting profiles.
This year several first-time recruiters will visit the IIT Kharagpur campus including top corporate brands like P&G India, Nestle India, Nomura. The institute saw names like international recruiters – Apple, Microsoft Redmond, Uber, Mercari Japan among others who have made a beeline for recruitment. Apart from the prominent players which recruited last year, seven more companies are on board for the phase one recruitment at the institute which started on Sunday.
“IIT Kharagpur started the first day with 30 companies which is 25% more than last year and include 76 profiles from core, software, analytics, finance and consulting. There is 50% increase in international offers that includes many pay packages with over a crore. With 7% increase in number of PPOs and almost three times increase in public sector offers, the total number towards the end of first day is about 450 which includes PPOs. Few more offers are expected to close the day. This is showing an increasing trend compared to last year. The top three recruiters on day one so far are Microsoft and Goldman Sachs with 24 and 14 respectively,” said G P Rajasekhar, chairman at IIT Kharagpur’s Career Development Centre.
He added, “We feel that the placement trends are very promising and we expect the overall season to be very fruitful.”
An increasing trend in salary also was observed. “This was quite expected especially with software and quant companies offering higher packages,” said an official.
On the first day IIT-Kgp gave preference to companies who are mass recruiters, offers the best salary packages and are the biggest names in the technology institutes. “Keeping an established relationship with the new companies has given us an opportunity to invite them to the campus this year who are interested to recruit students,” pointed out another official.
A total of 220 companies have registered for recruitment in the phase one who will be interviewing more than 1500 students who have registered for placement opportunities in 2019-2020.
On the day 1 around 30-31 companies arrived at the campus which offers the most lucrative and high profile international jobs. Around 50 portfolios were be up for recruitment.
In the first phase of final placements 2005 students have registered, seeking a job.
